Fujian Wave is a 100% wool loop pile with a deliberately uneven surface. The pile runs between 3 and 5mm rather than sitting at one level, and that variation across the loop is what gives the carpet its texture and its name — the light does not fall flat across it the way it does on a level loop.

It is a light-footed carpet for wool: 1000 gr/m² (30oz/yd²) of pile on a fine 5/32 gauge, 5.5 to 7.5mm total height. A low, tight loop does not crush the way a deep pile does, which is why it carries a residential extra heavy duty rating despite not being a heavy carpet, and why it suits hallways, stairs and rooms that get walked through rather than sat in.

Wool brings the rest. It is warm underfoot in winter and cool in summer, it absorbs sound rather than reflecting it, it holds airborne dust in the pile instead of letting it circulate, and it is naturally flame resistant without a chemical coating.
