Preference Classic is a straightforward, hard-wearing laminate at the value end of our range. Boards are 1215 x 125 x 12.3mm on an FSC certified high density fibreboard core, supplied 1.515 m² per carton at around 16kg, with a 65% gloss finish and a micro bevel on all four sides that gives each plank its own defined line.

The palette is built around Australian hardwood species — Blackbutt, Brush Box, Jarrah, Kempas, Merbau and Mountain Spotted Gum — alongside Antique Oak, Brazilian Oak and Euro Oak. It uses an easy-to-install licensed Clic system for a floating installation over most sound, level subfloors.

The surface is rated AC3, which suits bedrooms, studies and general domestic rooms rather than the heaviest-traffic areas of the house. If you need a tougher surface for a hallway or an open-plan living area, look at our Oakleaf 12mm (AC4) or Kronos Aquastop (AC5) ranges.

One thing to be clear about: Preference Classic is a standard laminate and there is no published water-resistance rating for it. The core is HDF and it will swell if water is left on it. Wipe spills as they happen, clean with a well-wrung damp mop, and keep it out of bathrooms and laundries. If you want a laminate with a measured water-resistance window, our Aquastop, Oakleaf HD PLUS and Aspect ranges are rated for 48 and 72 hours.

Preference Classic is covered by a Limited Lifetime Structural Warranty and a Limited 20 Year Coating Warranty. Colour-matched trims, coloured scotia and stair nosing are available.
