Elk Falls is engineered hickory flooring made from genuine North American Appalachian Hickory — a dense, hard-wearing timber that rates 9.5 kN on the Janka scale, harder than European Oak and a match for our Australian hardwoods. If you want a floor that shrugs off kids, dogs and furniture, this is the range to look at first.

Boards are 189mm wide and 14mm thick, in a 1900mm length with nested combination shorts in the carton, and each carton covers 2.155 m² and weighs 20.5 kg. The 2mm solid hickory wear layer sits on an engineered core for stability, and it is thick enough to be sanded back and re-coated later in the floor’s life. The surface is pre-finished in a European PU matte coating over a light wire-brushed texture, with micro-bevelled edges.

The grade is AA/B/C/D rustic: knots and split defects are filled and patched to complement the surface colour, and the boards also carry sapwood, raised grain and genuine colour variation from plank to plank. That variation is the point of the range — laid out well it gives a floor with real depth, and it means you should blend planks from several cartons as you go rather than laying them straight out of one box.

Installation is a floating floor using a Unilin patented click profile, which makes it fast to lay over a sound, flat, dry subfloor. The range rates P3 for slip resistance and E1 for VOC emissions. It is suitable for installation with “In-Slab” hydronic heating only — no other underfloor heating system is approved. Warranty is a 20 year finish warranty and a 20 year limited lifetime structural warranty. Colour-matched trims, coloured scotia and stair nosing are available.
