ALPS is a chunky loop pile wool carpet, and the loop is the point of it. The yarn blends European wool with a 20% khullu yak fibre and is spun four ply, which is what gives each loop its body — the surface reads as substantial rather than flat, and it holds that look in rooms that get walked through every day.
The palette is five soft alpine neutrals drawn from snowy landscapes, from the pale Mont Blanc through to the deeper Mount. At 52oz (1750gsm) with a 7mm pile height, ALPS sits in the mid-to-heavy residential weight class: dense enough not to flatten in a hallway or in front of a sofa, but low enough to vacuum easily and to clear most internal doors.
Wool earns its place here for reasons a synthetic fibre cannot match. It is naturally flame resistant, it holds its colour against UV in sunlit rooms, it buffers humidity, and it traps airborne dust in the pile rather than letting it circulate, which is why wool suits allergy-prone households.
