Aspire RCB Hybrid flooring represents next generation manufacturing techniques utilising the recently developed rigid composite core board (RCB). RCB core is manufactured from inert mineral compounds that are stable and provide little or no movement; this enables excellent performance characteristics not commonly associated within the Luxury Vinyl Tile category. This next generation hybrid flooring is dimensionally stable, highly durable and suitable for interior waterproof installations.
Every board is 1.8 metres long and 8mm thick overall — a 6.5mm plank with a 1.5mm acoustic underlay already bonded to the underside — and locks together with a Välinge click profile for a straightforward floating installation over most sound, level subfloors. The range carries a 0.7mm robust wear layer with a water based PU coating for everyday scuff resistance.
There are two plank widths. The Australian Timber décors — Coastal Blackbutt, New England Blackbutt, NSW Spotted Gum and QLD Spotted Gum — are a 178mm plank, supplied 1.602 m² per carton over 5 planks. The Contemporary décors are a 223mm super-width plank, supplied 1.606 m² per carton over 4 planks. Each plank incorporates a stabilising balance layer on the underside with an attached cross-linked IXPE acoustic foam layer.
That acoustic layer does real work. Aspire exceeds the National Construction Code acoustic sound-level ratings for multi-residential apartments and is 5 Star rated, which makes it one of the easier floors to get approved by a strata committee or building manager. It rates P3 for slip resistance, is FloorScore certified for indoor air quality, and has been Australian tested and confirmed not to contain respirable crystalline silica. Fire test results are CHF 7.5 kW/m² with a smoke value of 157% minimum on the 178mm plank, and CHF 10.1 kW/m² with a smoke value of 102% minimum on the 223mm plank.
Aspire is suitable for installation over “In-Slab” hydronic heating only. A hybrid floor should never be used in place of a moisture membrane. Sweep regularly and clean with a well wrung damp mop; do not use steam or electric mops. Colour-matched trims, coloured scotia and stair nosing are available.
