Boden is a heavy-duty loop pile in 100% pure wool, spun two ply and set on a wide 1/4 inch gauge. The loop is low at 7mm, which is exactly what you want where a carpet has to work: it does not crush in a hallway, it does not trap grit, and the texture reads across the whole room rather than in stripes.
It is one of the few carpets we sell that the manufacturer marks as suitable for stairs, and its fire performance is the strongest in our wool range at 9.9 kW/m² critical radiant flux under ISO 9239.1. The backing is natural hessian rather than a synthetic, so the floor covering is a natural fibre product through to the base.
Wool is what makes it comfortable as well as durable. It insulates, so rooms hold their warmth in winter; it absorbs sound, so a room with Boden in it is measurably quieter; it traps airborne dust in the pile rather than letting it circulate, which is why wool suits allergy-prone households; and it is naturally flame and stain resistant without a chemical coating.
